First Day of School

This is my submission for the Anime Boston 2014 Art contest. Rather, this is a slightly revised version, as I still felt the piece needed some touch ups after submitting it, so it's just a bit more refined but essentially the same. The earlier version is what will be judged though. It's basically a young girl starting her first day of school with a big shopping list and absolutely no idea what she's getting herself into. Whereas she's completely overwhelmed by her surroundings having never even done any magic before, pretty much everyone around her seems to know what they're doing or have some guidance.

This was a bit of a departure from my usual style (if I have one?), as I've been interested in dabbling in a bit more of the eastern/manga style lately. It was kind of an ambitious composition and I didn't have much time to do it, so it's not quite to the point even now as I had imagined it, but it's time to move on. Hope you enjoy it nevertheless!
